This piece is wonderfully textural, especially more so on the computer than in print. The colors are all very vivid and exciting. I really like how the bubble wrap was manipulated to resemble lights, and the line that it creates makes the composition feel very complete. Personally I really like figures in art, so I like that they were included in this piece without making their personalities overly dominate the piece (which could be cool too if it was done well, but I really like how you included them in this).
As far as weaknesses, I am just concerned that there may be too many images in this piece. I think that if the wheel in the bottom left had not been included and had been a black background with the textures overlaying it, it may have been stronger and had more pop.
This piece makes me feel really energetic and like I want to go out and meet people and live my life!
This piece has a very interesting affect on me. I really like the textures and the combination of the images. Bubble wrap was an excellent object to bring in. The repetition of circles is interesting because they are different textures. The bubble wrap has a really transparent and airy feel (I mean it is bubble wrap) while the hubcap on the tire is more weighted. In terms of movement the composition works well, a little eratic but my focus stays in the borders. I get kind of lost when I look at this image. It doesn’t appear to have any solid forms. The man on the right seems too large compared with the smaller people and he takes most of my focus. If that was your intention it works great it just threw me off. I’m conflicted with the colors. I like them, they’re very interesting but at the same time there doesn’t seem to be distinct purpose to them (if that makes sense). Overall I really like looking at it. It’s one of those images that when you keep looking at it you find something new.
The first two things I noticed about the piece were the fluid movement and textures. The bubblewrap immediately grabs my attention and directs me throughout the piece. At first glance, I couldn't notice all the people, but as I looked longer, there they were. I really like the blending of the reds and greens over the tire hub without being too overpowering. I also liked that you used more implied line to move the viewer across the work.
The only thing I really thought needed work is blending on the guy in the right hand corner. I think it's too flat compared to the rest of the piece. I'm still undecided on the bright blue on the bottom right hand corner as well, but I think it helps break up some of the flattest and brings some attention to the right side.
This is the most saturated and colorful piece out of all of them, and it works so well! I'm usually not a fan of bright, powerful colors, but these look so good together. The layout is really interesting to me. The movement of the bright bubble wrapping curving around the car wheel really brings the whole piece together. I also like how there are different images that really have nothing to do with each other....a car wheel, soccer players, bubble wrap, and shoes...but you made it all blend into one image. I think the bubble wrap texture makes it what it is. I feel as if it wasn't there it would like flat and plain. The content is really mysterious to me. There are people in it but you can't see any of there faces. I kind of wonder if you have a hidden message because of that. If i were to change anything it would be the overuse of saturation. It's in every image. Maybe if there were some more subtle parts in the piece it wouldn't look so busy and dark. But, that might have been the effect you wanted, and like I said, I think it looks great. I am kind thinking that the positioning of the soccer player in the white on the bottom could be moved a bit more away from the main figure on the right...it's pretty close to him. Other than that, good work!
