Your piece really intrigues me. It makes me want to stay and stare for a long time trying to figure out what the different elements are. I’ve come to the conclusion that it can’t be done. The only thing I can identify is one of those fountains that is composed of little ceramic pots.
You did a really cool job with the eraser technique in the background. It really emphasizes the positive space and gives the eye a great path to follow. While at the same time, it contrasts in color and emotion to the main object; it also compliments it due to the obscurity of what it actually is.
The intensity of that red dot is really intriguing. It literally looks hot, like if I were to touch it, it could potentially burn me. I like that your lines of the main object are intense, clear, and bold, yet together they make something completely fantasy. It is also cool how that object looks cylindrical, like another object could be placed inside the hollowed space.
I really like the shapes your piece creates. Each element is comprised of shapes that make up different shapes, and adds to the complexity of your work. I also like the textures worked in to the piece. They are compelling, but not overbearing. It has an interesting sense of depth, and a strong focal point.
I wonder if there's anything you could do to help unify the texture on the bottom left a little more, but i really like the use of line to help tie it in. Great solution to the project!
Interesting combination of 2d space and 3d space. While there are recognizable 3d objects, they seem to be embedded into a 2d layer. Certain images erased into to reveal underlying backgrounds and textures also bring together the 2 an 3d spaces to give an appearance of a 2d object overlaying a 3d form. The overall composition is solid, focusing first on the red light placed on a third and spiraling outwards to lead the eye around the entire image. The individual images themselves are somewhat recognizable, however it does not distract from the overall composition because they are abstract enough to let the eye flow easily over them without fixating on them.
In the bottom center, it gets a little muddy which is somewhat distracting because the rest of the image flows well without having to decipher what the images actually are. But in this section because its so dark, there is a tendency to want to figure out what the dark blob actually is and therefore, interrupts the flow.
however, overall, I believe its a solid, well thought out piece!
